Community-Based Program
You don’t need any special skill to change a life. Just simply show up as you are.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE TO CHANGE THEIRS
Showing up just as you are is the most powerful tool you can bring into a Match. In our community-based program, being a “Big” is about sharing the things you already love to do with a local youth who needs a mentor.
We believe the best friendships happen naturally, which is why our Enrollment Specialists put so much heart into the pairing process. By looking at everything from your favorite hobbies to your personality type, we ensure that you and your “Little” are set up for success from day one.
Whether it’s grabbing a slice of pizza, a game of basketball in the park, or visiting the library, those few hours you spend together 2 to 4 times a month create a ripple effect of confidence and support that lasts a lifetime.
Program Cost
Enrollment is free for both Bigs and Littles. While Bigs are responsible for the cost of activities they choose that require admission or fees, we encourage low-to-no-cost outings and distribute In-Kind donations (such as tickets or gift cards) when available to enrich your Match. The goal isn't to spend money, but rather, it's to spend time.
Time Commitment
In our Community Based matches, we ask that everyone is able to commit to at least 12 months of meeting 2-4 times a month. Matches can go beyond the minimum and in fact our agency’s match length is almost double the national average!
Location
The Community Based program is offered in all 5 counties we serve (Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Ionia and Shiawassee). Please note that at this time our agency does currently have a waiting list of Littles interested in the Community Based Program.
